Poetry: Stay In Your Lane

You’ve got to love AI art, but the best it could do included no yellow lines in the center of the road and, apparently, we’re not in America because that semi is in the wrong lane. Anyway, enjoy some humor today!

Poetry: Stay In Your Lane

Oh here he goes again

Where he does not belong.

It’s not that hard, kid, you see,

To stick to what you know.

To the right is, quite simply,

Somewhere you shouldn’t go.

.

Lane! Lane! Stay in your lane!

It’s the solid white line.

There’s a pothole, rumble strips

And rotting lumps of fur.

Not talking figural quips;

I’m talking to the driver.

.

Stop looking at the pretty train.

Keep your eyes on the road.

The yellow line is just as bad.

No, there is not roadkill

Just a trucker all in plaid,

And his massive semi grill.

.

You know what’s not in your lane?

Such a plethora of things!

Shall I try to name them all

Homes, mailboxes, power lines,

Fences, trees, corn fields, the mall.

Ooh! Forgot to mention signs!

.

I know I sound like a major pain,

But I know you’ll be great at this.

It only takes a little time,

And thousands of miles, I suppose.

Between the lines is no crime,

But you keep me on my toes.
