Snowy mountains erupt beneath storm clouds and a fractured, glowing sky

Revelation

Snowy mountains erupt beneath storm clouds and a fractured, glowing sky

Terror as every mount and isle are rent

“Write, for these words are faithful and true…”

See, thirsty one,  He makes all things new.

Dissolved into nothing , the sky, how it flees!

Where have you gone little earth with your seas?

The Alpha and Omega declares, “It is done.”

From beginning to end, He has overcome.

.

Oh churches, oh Bride, hear your bridegroom above.

Prone to wander, dear Ephesus, from your first love,

Smyrna, a pauper, vexed by Satan’s fabrications,

Endure, Pergamum, and scorn the Nicolaitans.

The one who overcomes, He writes and won’t erase,

He opens and no one shuts or resists His grace.

.

A glimpse across rainbows and a crystal sea,

A throne, a book, a seal, and elders crying, “Glory!”

The apostle he weeps for who can open the book?

Away with your tears, thirsty one, and look!

The Lion of Judah, the Root of David overcame!

Worthy, oh worthy, is the Lamb that was slain!

.

Even as the earth dissolves into wars,

As famine and death claim their lotted scores,

While the dead in Christ cry out, “How long?”

All heaven resounds a triumphant new song.

Soon the sorrow, the pall of sin, must end.

Soon our enemy and his hosts be condemned.

.

Terror as every mount and isle are rent,

Evil men hide, rather they die than repent.

When that ancient sky is rolled up like a scroll,

Where will you be, oh trembling soul?

The earth groans, it shakes under wrath of the Lamb.

Under weight of His wrath, who is able to stand?

.

That serpent of old, the wretched fallen star,

Seeking saints to devour wherever they are.

Holocausts, genocides, perverse corruption,

Tools on a timer ticking down to destruction.

Thrashes in vain at whom Christ died in their stead

The great dragon of old with his long-crushed head.

.

Every evil deed of all of mankind,

Every wicked act for all of our time,

The breadth of our sin man so blithely ignored

Is read on that day at the white throne’s record.

Each man by his worthless deeds be judged,

Except those in robes that were washed in the blood.

.

When sky has fled away and earth itself quakes,

When Satan and his own burn in everlasting lakes,

What hope have we who now groan and sigh?

A hope that He’ll wipe every tear from our eye.

The accuser is silenced, death’s horror diminished

When He drained the cup and cried, “It is finished.”
